Summer Camp Event

Week One: Monday, June 10 through Thursday, June 13
Week Two: Monday, July 29 though Thursday, August 1
Camp Time:
 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Cost: $429 per camper; no sibling discount
Ages:  9 to 13 years old
Limited to 10 total Camp Participants

Each day presents new learning opportunities from working with live bait, understanding different fishing spots, weather, sonar, protecting our fisheries with respecting regulations and best practices to be a responsible angler. Campers will work with different lures, fish in different locations each day, and be able to learn in real time as they fish our waterways along with our experienced Captains leading the way.

Pure Florida Fishing Camp Day 1 Goals

  1. Master a simple live bait rig by learning to tie a fish finder rig using a uni-knot.
  2. Learn how to correctly hook a shrimp depending on fishing conditions
  3. Learn to cast underhand for better safety since we will be on a head boat with multiple people
  4. Learn to use a dehooking device properly to avoid direct contact with certain species of fish

Pure Florida Fishing Camp Day 2 Goals

  1. Learn how to find fish and read conditions going over tides, weather and solunar tables.
  2. Learn how to catch your own live bait
  3. Learn about chumming and different types chumming that can attract fish

Pure Florida Fishing Camp Day 3

  1. Learning about different fishing spots; canals, docks, in the surf, shipwrecks artificial and natural reefs.
  2. Understand when conditions are best for the different fishing spots.
  3. Review fishing regulations and learn how to research to be sure you are following proper guidelines at all times to protect our waterways and fisheries.

Pure Florida Fishing Camp Day 4

  1. Take time today to learn more about weather and reading doppler radar.
  2. Learn how to read a sonar aka “fish finder”
  3. Campers should be able to display being a productive angler; be able to determine good fishing spots, know what kind of fish will be there and how to properly reel them in and determine whether they are keeper fish or need to be returned.

The four-day camp begins Monday, June 10 and ends Thursday, June 13.  The day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m.  In the case of rain, campers will be inside doing related fishing activities until they can head out onto the water.  Camp departs from historic Tin City docks each day located at 1200 5th Ave S, Naples, FL 34102.

The cost of camp is $429 per student.  This cost includes everything camp related for each camper.  Campers receive a Dry-Fit long-sleeve fishing camp shirt and a welcome bag with gifts from southwest florida attraction partners.  Campers are encouraged to bring their own lunch boxes with snacks, sandwiches along with a thermos of their refreshment of choice. Pure Florida will have complimentary cold water available each day.

Camp will be aboard M/V Naples Explorer. This open-air catamaran provides plenty of space for campers to fish, enjoy the outdoors and learn about our waterways and fisheries. Camp will be lead experienced fishing Captains ready to teach the next generation of anglers. There is a marine restroom on board the M/V Naples Explorer.
